Romans 8:1 (NKJV)

“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.”

Romans 5:1 (NKJV)

“Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

One of the greatest blessings that comes through the grace of Jesus Christ is freedom from guilt and condemnation. Many believers struggle with memories of past sins, mistakes, and failures. The enemy often uses these memories to accuse, discourage, and weaken our faith. However, the gospel reveals a powerful truth: in Christ, condemnation has been removed.

Romans 8:1 begins with the phrase “There is therefore now no condemnation.” This statement is absolute and decisive. It means that for those who are in Christ Jesus, the verdict of guilt has been permanently cancelled. Jesus bore the punishment for our sins on the cross, and through His sacrifice we are declared righteous before God.

Condemnation belongs to those who remain outside Christ, but believers who live according to the Spirit experience freedom. This freedom does not mean that we never make mistakes; rather, it means that our standing before God is secured by Christ’s finished work, not by our own perfection.

Romans 5:1 further explains the basis of this freedom: justification by faith. To be justified means to be declared righteous before God. It is a legal declaration in which God counts the believer as righteous because of the righteousness of Christ. The result of this justification is peace with God. The hostility caused by sin has been removed, and we now enjoy reconciliation with our Heavenly Father.

Grace and truth meet powerfully in this reality. Truth exposes sin, but grace provides redemption. Truth shows us our need for salvation, while grace assures us that Christ has fully paid the price. Therefore, believers must refuse to live under the burden of guilt that Christ has already removed.

Satan is called the accuser of the brethren, and one of his strategies is to keep believers trapped in feelings of condemnation. But the Word of God reminds us that our identity is not defined by our past failures but by Christ’s righteousness.

When we confess our sins and turn to God, His forgiveness is complete. We are not only forgiven but also restored and accepted. This freedom allows us to serve God with confidence, joy, and gratitude.

Today’s message is clear: do not live under condemnation when Christ has given you justification. Walk in the freedom of grace and the assurance of peace with God.
