Day 15: I Receive Power to Live the New Life in Christ

Bible Texts: Romans 6:4; Ezekiel 36:26

A life in Christ is not just about believing; it is about transformation. God does not only call us out of sin; He also empowers us to live in righteousness. Many believers struggle with the idea of living a holy life, but the good news is that God provides the power to do so.

1. The Reality of the New Life in Christ

Romans 6:4 declares:
“Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”

This passage teaches that when we accept Christ, we participate in His death and resurrection spiritually. Just as Christ was raised from the dead, we are also raised to a new life—a life that is completely different from our old ways of living. The power that raised Jesus from the dead is the same power that enables us to live righteously (Ephesians 1:19-20).

The new life in Christ is not based on human effort but on divine empowerment. We do not struggle in our own strength to live right; rather, we receive supernatural help from God.

2. The Role of the Holy Spirit in the New Life

Ezekiel 36:26 says:
“A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh.”

This is a prophecy of transformation, which finds its fulfillment in Christ. God replaces our stubborn, sinful heart with a new heart and gives us a new spirit. This refers to the work of the Holy Spirit, who regenerates us (Titus 3:5) and empowers us to live according to God’s will (Galatians 5:16).

Without the Holy Spirit, living a righteous life would be impossible. But through Him, we receive:

  • A New Nature – 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
  • The Power to Overcome Sin – Romans 8:13 says, “For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.”
  • Strength to Live Victoriously – Acts 1:8 declares, “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you.”

3. Walking in the New Life Daily

Receiving power to live the new life in Christ is not just a one-time event; it is a daily experience. We must actively walk in the Spirit (Galatians 5:25), renew our minds through God’s Word (Romans 12:2), and put on the new self created in righteousness (Ephesians 4:24).

Practical ways to walk in the new life:

  • Stay connected to God through prayer (Luke 18:1)
  • Meditate on and obey God’s Word (Joshua 1:8)
  • Surround yourself with godly influences (Hebrews 10:25)
  • Die to self and live for Christ (Galatians 2:20)

Conclusion

The power to live the new life in Christ is not something we generate by ourselves. It comes from God through the Holy Spirit. As we yield to Him, He enables us to overcome sin, live in righteousness, and reflect the nature of Christ. Declare today:

🛐 “Lord, I receive power to live the new life in Christ! I reject my old ways and embrace Your transforming work in me. Fill me with Your Spirit and let me walk daily in righteousness and holiness. In Jesus’ name. Amen!”

Prayer:

  15. Thank You Lord for answering my prayers and for the grace to please You at all times so I can always experience Your presence with me, in Jesus’ name. (John 8:29).
