Day 20 Reflection: I Put on the Garment of Christ’s Righteousness

Key Scriptures:
📖 Isaiah 61:10 – “I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.”

📖 Revelation 19:8 – “And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.”

Understanding the Garment of Christ’s Righteousness

In our journey of transformation, one of the most profound blessings we receive is the garment of Christ’s righteousness. This is not a righteousness that we achieve through our works, but rather a divine covering that God graciously bestows upon us when we come to Him through faith in Jesus Christ.

In Isaiah 61:10, the prophet describes the joy of being clothed with salvation and covered with the robe of righteousness. This imagery points to how God removes our filthy garments of sin (Zechariah 3:3-4) and clothes us with something entirely new—His righteousness. The righteousness of Christ is like a royal robe, making us acceptable in the presence of God.

Similarly, in Revelation 19:8, we see the Church, the Bride of Christ, adorned in fine linen, which represents the righteousness of the saints. This is a reflection of the work of Christ in us, preparing us for the marriage supper of the Lamb.

Why Do We Need Christ’s Righteousness?

  1. Our Own Righteousness Is Insufficient
    • Isaiah 64:6 – “But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousness are as filthy rags…”
No matter how good we try to be, our righteousness cannot meet God’s perfect standard. We need Christ’s righteousness to stand justified before God.
  2. It Is a Gift from God
    • Romans 3:22 – “Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe…”
We do not earn this righteousness; it is imputed to us through faith in Christ.
  3. It Transforms Our Identity
    • 2 Corinthians 5:21 – “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”
When we put on the garment of Christ’s righteousness, we take on a new identity as God’s holy people, walking in His ways.

How Do We Put on Christ’s Righteousness?

  1. By Accepting Christ Through Faith
    • Romans 10:10 – “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
We must first receive Christ by faith and acknowledge that His righteousness is our only hope.
  2. By Living a Holy Life Through the Holy Spirit
    • Ephesians 4:24 – “And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.”
Righteousness is not only a gift but also a calling to live in holiness and obedience.
  3. By Continually Renewing Our Mind
    • Romans 12:2 – “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind…”
When we wear Christ’s righteousness, we no longer think and act as the world does; instead, we conform to His image.
  4. By Keeping Our Garment Clean
    • Revelation 3:5 – “He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment…”
We must be careful not to defile our garments with sin but walk in continual repentance and purity.

Conclusion

To be transformed into Christ’s likeness, we must put on His righteousness daily. This is not a one-time event but a continual process of walking in His truth, rejecting sin, and living by faith. As we do, we become the radiant Bride of Christ, ready to meet Him in glory.

🙏 May the Lord help us to remain clothed in His righteousness until the day of His return. Amen!
