Day 22: I Receive Power to Live and Manifest Divine Sonship
Bible Texts: John 1:12; Romans 8:19
The Christian life is not just about being saved but also about living and manifesting the reality of our divine sonship. As believers, we have been given the power to live as sons and daughters of God. This power enables us to reflect His nature, exercise His authority, and reveal His glory on earth.
1. The Power to Become Sons of God (John 1:12)
“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.”
This verse highlights a foundational truth: receiving Christ grants us power (Greek: exousia, meaning authority or right) to become God’s children. This is not just a title but a transformational reality that reshapes our identity and purpose.
What Does This Power Entail?
- Power to live a victorious life over sin (Romans 6:14) – As God’s children, we are no longer slaves to sin.
- Power to live by the Spirit (Galatians 5:16) – Our new identity enables us to walk in the Spirit and not gratify the desires of the flesh.
- Power to exercise authority over the enemy (Luke 10:19) – As sons of God, we have dominion over the works of darkness.
This power is not automatic; it is accessed through faith in Christ and continuous fellowship with Him.
2. The Manifestation of the Sons of God (Romans 8:19)
“For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.”
The world is eagerly waiting for the manifestation (apokalypsis – unveiling or revealing) of God’s children. This means that our sonship is meant to be visible and impactful.
How Do We Manifest Divine Sonship?
- Through a transformed life (Romans 12:2) – True sons of God reflect His character and holiness.
- Through spiritual authority (Mark 16:17-18) – Signs and wonders should follow us as evidence of our divine identity.
- Through love and good works (Matthew 5:16) – Our lives should shine as light, drawing people to God.
- Through boldness and faith (Acts 4:13) – Like the apostles, we should demonstrate courage and confidence in our identity as God’s children.
3. Receiving and Walking in This Power
Receiving the power to manifest divine sonship requires:
- Faith in Christ (Galatians 3:26) – Sonship is granted through faith in Jesus.
- Renewal of the mind (Romans 12:2) – Transformation comes as we align our thoughts with God’s truth.
- Empowerment by the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8) – The Holy Spirit is the enabler of our sonship manifestation.
- Obedience to God’s word (John 14:21) – Living in obedience strengthens our spiritual authority.
In conclusion, the power to live and manifest divine sonship is not for a select few; it is for all who believe in Christ. As we embrace this reality, we will begin to live as true representatives of God, manifesting His power, love, and glory in a world that is eagerly waiting for the sons of God to be revealed.
