We, and our children shall be for signs and wonders
“Here am I, and the children whom the LORD has given me! We are for signs and wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, Who dwells in Mount Zion.” Isaiah 8:18
“They shall build houses and inhabit them; they shall plant vineyards and eat their fruits. They shall not build and another inhabit; they shall not plant and another eat; for as the days of a tree, so shall be the days of my people, and My elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands. They shall not labour in vain, nor bring forth children for trouble; for they shall be the descendants of the blessed of the LORD, and their offsprings with them.” Isaiah 65:21-23
EXPOSITION:
One out of the many things that manifests the glory God created us for, is for us together with our children being for, and showcasing signs and wonders wherever we are or go all over the globe. We must believe this in our hearts and regularly confess it convincingly with our mouths as written in Isaiah 8:18 that, “Here am I and the children whom the LORD has given me! We are for signs and wonder…” Wherever the soles of our feet shall tread is our inheritance in the name of Jesus.
There are loads of covenant promises in the Bible that God made concerning parents and their children. Let’s hear as it’s written in Joshua 65:22-23, “They shall not build and another inhabit; They shall not plant and another eat; For as the days of a tree, so shall be the days of My people, And My elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands. They shall not labour in vain, nor bring forth children for trouble; For they shall be the descendants of the blessed of the Lord, and their offspring with them.” This is a scripture we often import and apply to our lives as parents of children. The original context of this text may differ, but being the word of God that is eternally true, reliable, dependable, and trustworthy, it is applicable to all seasons and relevant to as many as believe it.
Our children are like residential abode that parents are building to provide ‘shelter’ for them at old age. Can you imagine how it would be for someone to take possession and to inhabit the house you have toiled to build! Can you imagine how infuriating it would be for someone to go to your farm to harvest and eat the farm produce you laboured and sweated on and hoping to feed on!
When we labour and our labour is not in vain but it’s adequately rewarded; when our children prove not to be children of trouble and sorrow, but rather are our source of joy and peace; when they continue to do well in life and we continue to have cause to thank God over them, then we can say that our declaration is manifesting that, we and our children indeed are for signs and wonders to the glory of God. These expectations shall result in gladness for us; the counsel of the wicked shall perish concerning us and our children in the name of Jesus. Amen.
As we pray on this topic today, God, the able One will grant it for us even beyond our request and imagination; agenda of the evil ones, the wishful thinking of mischief makers concerning us and the children that the LORD has given us shall be thwarted and rendered null and void in the name of Jesus. Prayer Points:
1. Faithful Father, we thank You for Your ever presence in our lives and family in Jesus’ name.
2. Miracle Working Father, we thank You for the past miracles, signs and wonders that You have manifested in our lives; the ones You are doing presently, and the ones You are going to do in the future in Jesus’ name.
3. We thank You for our salvation, the greatest miracle of all in Jesus’ name.
4. Merciful Father, have mercy on us and forgive our short comings in Jesus’ name.
5. Holy One of Israel, manifest Your power over our existence. Henceforth, give us grace to do great exploits in Jesus’ name.
6. According to Your word in Isaiah 8:18, Father Lord, let our lives begin to show forth Your signs and wonders in all aspects of life in Jesus’ name.
7. We commit our children and children’s children, born and unborn into Your hands, Lord direct their destinies in Jesus’ name.
8. We decree our lives and all that concerns us will not be stolen, destroyed or killed by the enemy in Jesus’ name.
9. We decree that we shall not labour in vain, nor labour for another to eat in Jesus’ name.
10. We decree that we shall not build for another to inhabit in Jesus’ name.
11. We decree that we shall not plant for another to harvest in Jesus’ name.
12. We decree that we shall live blessed and awesome lives to the glory of God in Jesus’ name.
13. We decree that we shall live peaceful, healthy, joyful and long lives in Jesus’ name.
14. We declare that we shall perpetually abide in the presence and way of the Lord in Jesus’ name.
15. Thank You, our Miracle Worker, for answered prayers in Jesus’ name. Amen.
