We freshly put on the whole armour of God.

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” Ephesians 6:10-11

In the physical realm, weapons of warfare are regularly checked, serviced, and tested against wares and tears to ensure they are up to date and ready for battle at any time.

This same procedure should apply to warfare weapons in spiritual context. Wares and tears that can render spiritual weapons corrupted, contaminated, and hence impotent are factors such as ungodliness, unrighteousness, immorality, the works of flesh as listed in Galatians 5:19-21. Sinful indulgencies such as easily ensnare can stripe off the anointing power on anyone and render him/her powerless even without the person knowing. What happened to king Saul and Samson are examples of this. This is what informs today’s topic – the need to keep ourselves up to date spiritually. Bad consequences like of Saul and Samson is not our portion in the name of Jesus. Amen.

The Bible says in 2 Cor. 13:5, “Examine yourselves as to whether you are still in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves that Jesus Christ is in you? – unless indeed you are disqualified.” It is a common saying that the anointing of yesterday cannot do the exploits of today, implying that we have to regularly charge ourselves up spiritually like we charge our car battery. So, we must imbibe all the components of the whole armour of God as highlighted in today’s focal scripture: truth, righteousness, peace, sword of the spirit, prayer etc, into our system and make them a lifestyle.

We must make sure we avoid and guide against falling short in any of our moral obligations or failing in our spiritual fitness test, otherwise, this would be a loophole for the enemy to sneak in to defile and deform our warfare weapons.

May God help us to prevent this from happening. The God who daily loads us with benefits will daily supply whatever it requires to daily renew and refresh our whole armour in the name of Jesus. God bless you. SHALOM. – Pastor Jide Siwoku
