LORD, in You we trust.

“Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; but we will remember the name of the Lord our God.” Psalm 20:7

“O my God, I trust in You; Let me not be ashamed; let not my enemies triumph over me. Psalm 25:2

“Those who trust in the Lord Are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved but abides forever.” Psalm 125:1

EXPOSITION:

When a statement such as the topic for today is made, we are affirming to God that it is Him and Hiim alone we rely and depend on; we are telling Him that in the situation we are, help cannot come from anywhere, from anyone except from Him. Hearing this, without doubt, God will make haste to prove Himself in such situation as the Help like no other who would not want His glory to be dipped in the mud or His glory shared with anyone.

This is the kind of statement made in Psalm 121 by David when he probably found himself in a hopeless and helpless situation; he said, “I will lift up my eyes to the hills, from whence comes my help? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.” David here was telling God that he has faith in His ability to render the needed help, that he would not seek alternative source of help even if there is one. This is in line with another saying of David in Psalm 25: “To You, O Lord, I lift up my soul. O my God, I trust in You; let me not be ashamed; let not my enemies triumph over me.”

The incident at the Rea Sea resonates in Psalm 20 which speaks of the assurance of God’s saving power and work in a dead-end situation. In verse 7 it says, “Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; but we will remember the name of the LORD. They have bowed down and fallen; but we have risen and stand upright…” In the same vein, Psalm 125, speaking about God as the deliverer and the strength of His people, reminds us that – “Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abide forever.”

The key word for us today is trust/faith in God only – SOLAR FIDE! As we continue in this spiritual journey and in our Christian journey in life, I pray our trust, faith in God will be reenergised, in any seemingly impassable situation we get into, our trust/faith in God will be activated; the indwelling Holy Spirit will prompt us to remember, and to boldly say that “The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” May the LORD so help us in Jesus’ name. Amen. God bless you. SHALOM. – Pastor Jide Siwoku
