Power from above, come upon us as we embark on this holy journey
“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8
“How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.” Acts 10:38
Glory be to the most high God for the 7th day of our prayer and fasting season. We thank God for His grace that has been sustaining us and for all the blessings we have been receiving since the commencement of this spiritual exercise. Our focus today is on the power of God which is required by us all as we embark on this holy journey.
The power of God is the divine ability in us to act in such a way that brings about positive change. The power of God comes upon every believer as soon as the Holy Spirit (The Spirit and Power of God) comes inside of us to dwell.
Jesus promised us power before He left so that we could fulfil His mandate here on earth. Without power and authority, we are not able to accomplish anything; that is why Jesus has endued us with power through the Holy Spirit so that we can witness for Him all over the world (Acts 1:8).
At salvation, the Holy Spirit gives each of us a unique spiritual gift (1Co 12:7; 1Co 12:11) and a unique work to accomplish (Mat 25:15; Mar 13:34). The purpose of our spiritual gifts is to manifest the power of the Spirit of God within us by edifying the Body of Christ in some way.
During these 40 days fasting and prayer and beyond, let us strive to work in God’s spirit and power. If you are yet to be baptized in the Holy Ghost, ask for the infilling of the Holy Spirit and for God’s power to start working in you.
I pray that the power as of the day of Pentecost, will work in us and position us for supernatural exploits in Jesus’ name, amen.
